A Review on the Historiography of the Catholic Church in the Late Ming and Early Ch’ing Dynasties

Researches on the history of Christianity in the late Ming and early Ch’ing dynasties can contribu not only to clear picture of the Ming-Ch’ing cataclysm, but also to a sound under standing of the conflicts and compromises resulted from the contact of two different cultures.

This paper reviews previous studies in this field with emphasis on studies by chinese historians. Introduction of the collection of related original materials and discussion of future research directions are also included.
